How to fill in the MI-T form for a Spanish digital nomad permit — Relotus guide

A completed, signed MI-T form with the fee payment number — the main file of your UGE application for the digital nomad residence permit

  • TimeFill it in on the same day; it is filed online together with your other documents
  • Fee€73.26 / see the form (790-038)
  • Checked2 Oct 2026

MI-T is the UGE application form for the digital nomad residence permit, filed from Spain for a first application or a renewal. You tick the “TELETRABAJADOR DE CARÁCTER INTERNACIONAL” box and enter the NRC of the paid 790-038 fee: €73.26 for an initial application. The digital nomad signs it and files online through the sede with a digital certificate.

This is for you if you are a digital nomad (teletrabajador de carácter internacional) applying to the UGE (Unidad de Grandes Empresas) from Spain, for the first time or for a renewal. It is not for family members — they use form MI-F — or for applying from your home country: from abroad, you apply for a digital nomad visa at a consulate.

Prepare in advance

  • Pay the 790-038 fee online and keep the NRC number: you enter it in the form
  • Establish your current basis for being in Spain — a digital nomad visa, as a visitor or another residence permit: it decides which box you tick under “TIPO DE AUTORIZACIÓN”

Documents tick what you already have

Steps

  1. 1

Download MI-T from the Ministry's forms page #

Use the version from the Law 14/2013 forms page: the header reads “DIRECCIÓN GENERAL DE GESTIÓN MIGRATORIA”, and the file is from 2025 and editable. On the UGE filing site, the link leads to a 2021 file.

  2. 2

Tick the ground: TELETRABAJADOR DE CARÁCTER INTERNACIONAL #

In the “SOLICITUD DE AUTORIZACIÓN DE RESIDENCIA” block, a digital nomad ticks one box — the last one, “TELETRABAJADOR DE CARÁCTER INTERNACIONAL”. Leave the other grounds blank.

  3. 3

    Choose the application type #

For a first application, tick “INICIAL” and one sub-option: “TITULAR DE VISADO DE INVERSOR / TELETRABAJADOR” if you live in Spain on a digital nomad visa; “TITULAR DE AUTORIZACIÓN DE ESTANCIA EN ESPAÑA” if you are in Spain as a visitor, with or without a visa; “TITULAR DE AUTORIZACIÓN DE RESIDENCIA EN ESPAÑA” if you hold another valid residence permit. “RESIDENCIA FUERA DE ESPAÑA…” does not apply to digital nomads. For a renewal, tick “RENOVADA”. “PRORROGADA PARA BÚSQUEDA DE EMPLEO” is for researchers.

  4. 4

Fill in your personal details #

“DATOS DE LA PERSONA EXTRANJERA”: PASAPORTE, N.I.E (if you have one), Apellidos (surnames) and Nombre (first name) — as in your passport. Lugar de nacimiento: city of birth; Fecha: dd/mm/yyyy; País; Nacionalidad. Sexo: H (male) or M (female). Estado civil: S (single), C (married), V (widowed), D (divorced), Sp (separated) or Uh — registered partnership (unión de hecho). Then your parents' names, your address in Spain, Teléfono de contacto and E-mail. Leave “País de residencia fuera de España” blank: it is only for applications from abroad.

  5. 5

Leave the “DATOS DE LA EMPRESA/ENTIDAD EN ESPAÑA” block blank #

Under footnote 6, this block is completed only for highly qualified professionals, researchers and intra-company transfers. Your work for a foreign company is proved by your contract and the documents on the UGE list.

  6. 6

Name your representative if someone else files #

“DATOS DE LA PERSONA EXPRESAMENTE AUTORIZADA A PRESENTAR ESTA SOLICITUD”: surname, first name, phone, e-mail and DNI/NIE of the person filing for you — a lawyer or a gestor (licensed administrative agent). They must have their own digital certificate. If you file yourself, leave the block blank.

  7. 7

Enter the NRC from the 790-038 receipt #

Pay the fee first: “Punto 7 … (Ley 14/2013)”, inicial or renovación — by card, Bizum, bank debit, or at a bank with a printed form. After payment you receive the NRC, the payment reference. Copy it into the line “Número de Referencia Completo (NRC)…” without errors.

  8. 8

    Sign the form yourself #

Place and date — “MADRID, a 05 de OCTUBRE de 2026” — and your signature in the “Fdo:” box. Under footnote 12, a digital nomad signs personally: the employer signs only for highly qualified professionals and researchers. You may sign electronically with AutoFirma; this is optional.

File through the UGE sede, not the link printed on the form #

The old address printed at the bottom of the form (expinterweb.mitramiss.gob.es) does not open. File through the procedure page on the Ministry of Inclusion's sede: log in with your digital certificate and upload MI-T as a file together with your other documents.

Depends on the province

Your province does not affect the form: the UGE handles digital nomad applications centrally, and MI-T has no line addressing a province. You file online from anywhere in Spain.

Common mistakes

  • Ticking “RESIDENCIA FUERA DE ESPAÑA” and applying from your home country. The digital nomad residence permit is not issued from abroad: from there you apply for a visa at a consulate, and for the residence permit only once in Spain.
  • Entering the foreign employer in “DATOS DE LA EMPRESA/ENTIDAD EN ESPAÑA”. This block is only for highly qualified professionals, researchers and intra-company transfers.
  • Leaving the NRC line blank or filing before paying. The 790-038 fee is paid in advance, and the NRC from the receipt goes into the form.

When not to do it yourself

You are in Spain on a residence permit without the right to work (no lucrativa) or on a student permit and want to switch to the digital nomad permit, or part of your work is for Spanish clients. Such cases are best handled with a lawyer.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I download the current MI-T form?

On the Ministry of Inclusion's Law 14/2013 forms page: the 2025 editable version. On the UGE filing site, the link leads to a 2021 file.

Does MI-T need an electronic signature?

No, it is optional: you can sign by hand and scan the form, or sign the file with AutoFirma. The digital nomad signs personally, even if a representative files the application with their own certificate.

Which address goes in MI-T, and does it tie me to a province?

In “Domicilio en España”, give the address where you live in Spain. In practice, it does not tie you to a province: several people gave their fingerprints in another city by stating their current address in the card application form.

Should a digital nomad fill in “DATOS DE LA EMPRESA” and “País de residencia fuera de España”?

No, when you apply from Spain, both stay blank. Under footnote 6, the company block is only for highly qualified professionals, researchers and intra-company transfers, and the country of residence is only for applications from abroad (footnote 5).

What is the NRC in the MI-T form?

The 790-038 fee payment reference you receive after paying. You copy it into the “Número de Referencia Completo (NRC)” line, so the fee is paid before filing.
